About us

Our story

Hi everyone,

It’s Begum, a local North Vancouver mom, originally from Istanbul. I first fell in love with the Basque Burnt Cheesecake back in 2017, and I have loved it ever since. Years later, Norte Bakery started in my home kitchen in North Vancouver, built on that same simple love for one very special cheesecake.

I started baking these cheesecakes for family and friends, sharing a little taste of the Basque Country from my own kitchen.

Last year, my cheesecakes became part of 100+ local families' special moments, celebrations, and gatherings across North & West Vancouver. What began as a small passion quickly grew into something much bigger!

Today, Norte Bakery is proudly baking from a commercial kitchen, while keeping the same homemade care, high quality ingredients, and attention that started it all.

My Basque Burnt Cheesecake is made to be shared, enjoyed, and remembered.

Why Norte?

Norte means “north” in Spanish.

The name brings together two northern places: San Sebastián in the Basque Country and North Vancouver, our home.

A little connection between the north of Spain and the north shore of Vancouver brought together through my love of Basque Burnt Cheesecake.
